Note di degustazione
After the first bottle was flawed, the second attempt of the 2007 Rouge is delightful. It opens with a hauntingly floral lift and a pinch of bourbon vanilla, followed by cassis and minty undertones. Less earthy compared to the 2005 yet more refreshing, this uplifting Rouge has come together exceptionally well. It's just at the beginning of its broad drinking window.

71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6.2% Merlot, 5.6% Cabernet Franc, 2.8% Tannat, 2.1% Malbec, 1% Pinot Noir, 2.7% Syrah, 8.6% rare varieties. TA 3.56 g/l (sulphuric) , pH 3.49. Smoke, leaf litter, black cherry, very fine, misted tannins. Dry and stately. Lots of structure and not so much fruit power as some other vintages. Lovely expressive nose though – a really delicate example. (RH)
Light crimson. Very fresh nose – molto directo. A little bit tough and rustic tannins at the moment. Needs quite a bit of time. (JR)
Strong black pepper notes on the nose. Plus a bit of animal and very dry and taut on the finish. Is this going into a shell? It is awfully dry and severe on the finish. A bit lean even. I'd want to wait for ages before drinking this. (JR)
