Note di degustazione
The 2011 Skeffington has a very pure bouquet with scents of macerated dark cherries, kirsch, marmalade and iodine and a lush, open personality that unfolds nicely with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft-textured entry. It is very pure, forward and welcoming even at this nascent stage, with a nutty seam underlying the sweet black currant and dark plum fruit. The 2011 Skeffington has a pleasant symmetry towards the raisin-infused finish that is a little richer than previous vintages, displaying moderate persistency but plenty of freshness on the aftertaste. This oft-overlooked Vintage Port is well worth checking out as a more affordable alternative to Fonseca or Taylor’s. Tasted May 2013. (Not presently imported into the U.S.)

Aromas of flowers and ripe fruit with plums and blueberries. Full body, very sweet with velvety round tannins and an intense finish. Beefy. This is a blend of all the second wines from the vintage Ports belonging to the Taylor Fladgate group. Better in 2020.
