Note di degustazione
Full ruby. Aromas of red berries, cherry pit, anise and violet, plus a strong dose of peppery spice. Juicy and focused, offering lively black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of candied flowers. Clean and minerally on the finish, which shows outstanding clarity and closing florality. This wine could stand up to plenty of serious Cote-Roties.

An outstanding Syrah from vineyards just across from Côte-Rôtie, the 2009 Michel & Stephane Ogier Collines Rhodaniennes La Rosine oozes northern Rhône flair with sweet, yet slightly gamey aromas of blackberries, raspberries, fresh flowers, pepper, and underbrush qualities all emerging from the glass. Medium-bodied, classy, and elegant on the palate, with an ripe, yet clean texture, juicy acidity, and solid length, this beautifully put together Syrah will be a winner over the coming 5-8 years.
The 2009 Syrah La Rosine VDP is the most serious wine Ogier has yet produced from this site. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by abundant aromas of charcoal, licorice, black truffles, black currants and sweet cherries. Deep, fleshy, velvety textured, opulent and complex, it can be enjoyed over the next 7-8 years. Ogier's wines just keep getting better and better, so if you haven't yet jumped on the Ogier bandwagon, it's time to do so. Michel Ogier, and more recently his son, Stephane, are the leading craftsmen in terms of wines from the steep hillsides north of the old Roman town of Vienne. These are still entitled to only a VDP designation, but current vintages are the finest he has yet produced. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, New York City; tel. (212) 239-1275
