Really very winning on the nose with its seductive notes of coffee and chestnuts. Sweet start and very juicy fruit – already one could imagine drinking it! This may just be a case of the weight of fruit counterbalancing the notable acidity and tannin. Very lively and racy and appetising. Well done! Great persistence. (JR)
Moderately saturated medium red. Closed, reduced nose hints at redcurrant, plum and smoke. Rather austere in the mouth, with an edge of acidity and apparent oak currently overshadowing the wine's fruit, earth and spice elements. Very firm wine but today it's a bit dry and edgy, even austere. This is very difficult to taste and needs time.
