“With the A.P. #6,” – originating in the same parcel each year – says Oliver Haag, specifically of his 2009 Braunebeger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese A.P. #6 “I try to emphasize filigree and mineral aspects.” As with last year’s rendition, fig and pink grapefruit are prominently featured, and there is a combination of luscious fruit – in interplay with stony, saline, and wafting floral notes – plus alluring creaminess and striking delicacy. Arguably this is more refined and elegant today than the corresponding Juffer Auslese, but also just a bit less rich and deep. It, too, lingers with memorable length and should be capable of delivering profound pleasure for 30 or more years. ||Oliver Haag picked from just before mid-October until November 10, and the resulting collection is most notable for stunning quality in its nobly sweet echelons, although the volume of each bottling is small (typically the equivalent of 200-300 full bottles) due to paucity of botrytis. eRobertParker.com.December, 2010
