Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2016-2025, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016

The 2010 St Joseph Lieu Dit St Joseph Blanc is a classic white from this incredible vintage. Full-bodied, concentrated, drenched in minerality and with beautiful acidity, it offers textbook notes of white flowers, ripe peach and freshly crushed rocks. It’s certainly enjoyable, but has closed down slightly over the past couple of years and will benefit at this point from another year or two of bottle age.

The 2010 E. Guigal St. Joseph Lieu-Dit St. Joseph Blanc, a blend of 95% Marsanne and 5% Roussanne from the Cadastré lieu-dit, is aged half in new barrels and half in one-year-old barrels. Sporting a vibrant, light gold color to go with top-notch, classical aromas of marzipan, candied lemons, liquid mineral, and hints of flowers on the nose, it is more rich and dense than the straight St. Joseph, with a medium to full-bodied, dry, concentrated palate, gorgeous acidity, and an energetic, focused feel on the palate. This beauty is superb now, yet will have upwards of a decade or more of overall longevity.

Pale yellow. Explosively perfumed aromas of pit fruits, orange marmalade, violet and honey, with a touch of vanillin oak. Lush and creamy in texture, with excellent focus to its nectarine and candied citrus fruit flavors. Finishes with lingering floral and spice notes and excellent persistence. This exotic wine is delicious right now.
