A bigger, richer wine than the Le Poste, the 2006 Gigondas Hominis Fides offers more sandy, loamy soil notes as well as notions of cured meats, licorice, currants and hints of tapenade. Medium to full-bodied, perfectly balanced and layered, with still present tannin, it will be one of the longest lived wines in the vintage and will see its 20th birthday in fine form.

Glass-staining ruby. Deep, brooding aromas of kirsch and licorice gain energy with air and turn toward fresher raspberry and minerals. Tangy, finely etched red and dark berry flavors are nicely framed by dusty tannins. Finishes with gentle sweetness and a strong echo of minerals. This concentrated wine is showing a serious side and needs some time to unwind.
Inky ruby. Ripe raspberry and cherry preserves on the nose, with suave rose, lavender and Asian spices adding complexity. Juicy and sharply focused, offering deep red fruit flavors with liqueur-like intensity but excellent vivacity. Turns darker on the finish, leaving a strong kirsch quality behind. This is 100% grenache, from vines over 100 years of age.
