Note di degustazione
Inky ruby. Intensely perfumed scents of cassis, cherry compote, smoky minerals and violet. Showing more vivacity than it did from barrel last year, offering sweet dark berry and floral pastille flavors and good spicy lift. Finishes with repeating berry notes, solid grip and impressive tangy persistence.

A brilliant effort, especially considering the vintage, is the dense ruby/purple-colored 2007 Cote Rotie Cote Rozier (100% Syrah). Pen ink, graphite, black raspberry, blackberry, flower, and frying lard notes are present in this wine. Superb richness, full-bodied power, good depth and length suggest it will drink nicely for 12-15 years. (Not yet released) This small, 14-acre estate is one of the finest in Cote Rotie (the Bonnefonds also own 2.5 acres in Condrieu), and their 2007 offerings are among the top wines of the vintage in this appellation. Sleek and shiny and full of polished fun. Lovely life to this. Still a bit oak and at the moment it is tannin-dominated but it should come right. (JR)
Opaque ruby. Deeper and more brooding on the nose than the classique, showing dark cherry, cassis and licorice qualities, along with graphite and smoky minerals. Firm dark berry flavors loosen up a bit with air, picking up a gentle sweetness and a distinct mineral tang. The tannins return on the long, chewy finish. Painfully young today but clearly with outstanding depth and potential.
