2000 Chryseia

Deep crimson. More depth than many. Very sumptuous and heady on the nose. Smoky notes and very suave on the palate. Lots of tannin and acidity. A bit jagged. Fruit, but with layers of smoothness from the very bordeaux-like elevage on top. (JR)

The 2000 CHRYSEIA is well structured with a nice mouthfeel, a bit gamey, with some charcoal notes. Structurally, the wine is alive, vibrant and young, but there is a note of oxidation here as well, and the fruit seems to be aging unusually fast, throwing off lots of tertiary notes. There are a lot of things here still to like, but I would want to drink this sooner rather than later unless you are a big fan, and some are, of those forest floor nuances.
