Bone dry, extremely complex, served blind but Krug was the obvious guess. Edge of spice but not remotely rich. Perhaps very gently in decline now. (JR)

Brassy gold colour. Definitely somehow 'burnished' on the nose with a hint of almonds. Fresh finish with a real tingle running through it. Super-clean and brisk even at this great age. Quite remarkable. Very persistent. Sipped at length at the beginning of a birthday dinner with 1979 as the theme while three of our party lingered in Accident & Emergency after a rogue firework. (JR)
Extremely lively with notes of lime. Great body and deoth with some toastiness. Long and complete. Real reverberation. Fresh and lively. The suggested drinking dates above apply to bottles. IN magnum it should still be roaring on in the next decade. (JR)
