Note di degustazione
This wine is spectacularly concentrated and represents an exceptional expression of cooler climate Australian Shiraz. The profound 2003 Shiraz Emily’s Paddock includes 5% Cabernet Franc in the blend, and is an extraordinary wine meant for true connoisseurs of Australian wine. Aged completely in French oak (of which 23% was new), it offers a beautiful floral-scented perfume interwoven with aromas of blueberries, blackberries, asphalt, and subtle notes of wood as well as incense. Possessing great structure, compelling depth, remarkable intensity and richness, and a 60-second finish, this compelling wine of both power and elegance should hit its prime in 3-4 years, and last for two decades. Medium ruby. Strong oak spice accents the precise dark cherry, currant, licorice and anise aromas. Supple and rich in the mouth, with bitter cherry, dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavors, with repeating vanillin oakiness. Fresh, juicy and rich, not to mention youthful, on the long, solid finish. I'd hold onto this for another five years before pulling the cork.
