Mid garnet. Gorgeously evolved and expressive with a very attractive red berry sauce character. Soft tannins that give just enough grip on the finish. Serious yet very drinkable at the same time. Incredibly juicy. (RH)

Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2014-2022, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Apr 2013

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2009 Cyril Henschke is a single vineyard wine blended of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and 6% Merlot that is provocatively scented with lovely and pure cassis, roses and violet aromas accented by some cedar and underlying menthol, pencil lead and some loam. Medium to full-bodied, rich and opulent, with great mid-palate flesh plus medium to high balanced acid, it has a firm level of finely grained tannins and a very long finish. A great Cyril Henschke! Though approachable now, it should drink best 2014 to 2022+. Importer: Negociants USA, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 259-0993

81% Cabernet Sauvignon (quite difficult to ripen in Eden Valley unless you have well-positioned north-facing slopes), 13% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot. Single vineyard; all French oak at about 40% new. Wines made separately. Blackish purple. Peppery sweet on the nose. Lots of tannin. Salty, savoury, definite similarities with Hill of Grace! Crisp and dry and vital. (JR)

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Cyril Henschke is hanging in there, with raspberry and cherry aromas now matched by more savory dark olive, earth and thyme. Firm-edged tannins provide a solid backbone to a bone-dry palate, with a touch of acidity freshening up the finish. At peak.
