Note di degustazione
(70% grenache and 30% syrah, planted at 300 meters altitude): Deep ruby. Highly perfumed aromas of raspberry preserves, Asian spices and cola, with slow-mounting spiciness. Broad and deep but fresh, with juicy red and dark berry flavors lifted by notes of lavender pastille and anise. Fine-grained tannins add shape and grip to the long, sappy, seamless finish.

The 2009 Gigondas (70% Grenache and 30% Syrah aged in both tank and 1- to 3-year-old barrels) exhibits a deep ruby/purple color along with lots of berry fruit intermixed with crushed rock and spring flower notes. Elegant yet solidly constructed with silky tannins and impressive purity as well as length, it should drink well for 7-8 years. (Not yet released) One of the top estates of the appellation, La Bouissiere is run by the Faravel family. A Peter Vezan Selection, various American importers including: Michael Skurnick, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300 and Vintner Select, Cincinnati, OH; tel. (513) 229-3630
Mid dark crimson. Attractively melded autumn, ripe fruit aromas. Rich yet well balanced – not top heavy – and the tannins are really very well handled. Attractive essence of Gigondas. For the first time (and this was my 38th sample of Gigondas 2009), fairly high alcohol. Well done! (JR)
