Note di degustazione
The 2010 Gigondas comes from a vintage that saw plenty of coulure and low yields, according to Christophe Ay. It was his first vintage in full control at the domaine, and it remains a lovely wine, boasting savory notes of roasted meat and leather on the nose, then super ripe flavors of prune and licorice. It's full-bodied and remains velvety across the palate, finishing with a soft dusting of ripe tannins.

Also rock solid, with perhaps even more ripeness, the 2010 Domaine Raspail-Ay Gigondas offers layers of plum, violets, smoke, and licorice, as well as a medium to full-bodied, voluptuously textured mouth feel. Upfront and ready to go, with good acidity and solid structure that is partially concealed by fruit and texture, this beauty can be consumed now and over the coming decade or more.
(80% grenache, 15% syrah and 5% mourvedre): Youthful purple. Intriguing perfume of black raspberry, cherry compote, tobacco and lavender, complicated by a strong spiciness. Broad but focused red fruit flavors are firmed by juicy acidity, showing exotic notes of candied flowers and star anise. Silky tannins add shape to the long, attractively perfumed finish.
Dark crimson. Aromatic, meaty nose then rather light, gassy palate. Just a tad simple. Fast fade. (JR)
