Bright purple. Black raspberry, cherry pit, smoky bacon and licorice on the pungent nose. Fleshy and expansive, offering deep red and dark berry flavors and a note of candied violet. Picks up spiciness with air and finishes on a smoky dark berry note, with noteworthy thrust and silky, even tannins.

A beautiful blend of 100% Syrah, the 2011 Crozes Hermitage gives up a lively, yet sweetly fruited profile, with ample black cherry, blackberry, ground herbs, spring flowers and distinct minerality all flowing from the glass. Medium-bodied, supple and textured, with loads of charm, it’s a forward, delicious effort to drink over the coming 5-7 years.
Made by Maxime, who also runs the négociant business Equis specialising in old vines. Mid crimson. Engaging perfume. Bone dry. Silky texture. Very juicy. Not intense but friendly. (JR)
Lovely stone fruit and some hay character, quite light-bodied and low in acid, but plenty of interesting flavour. (RH)
