Aromas of ground pepper, incense, black cherry, cassis, and a touch of new oak jump from the glass of the 2005 Crozes-Hermitage. This medium-bodied effort is slightly bigger and denser than the 2006, and while it does not reveal the latter wine’s early charm, there is more to it. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2017. Ruby-red. Vibrant raspberry and cherry aromas are complemented by rose, violet and subtle minerality. Sweet red berry flavors show impressive depth and clarity, with no hard edges. Gains energy on the finish, which leaves a strong strawberry flavor behind. This is already delicious.
Deep ruby. Explosively perfumed nose offers vibrant raspberry and strawberry along with a fine dusting of dried flowers. Lush and silky already, with sweet red berry flavors and extremely fine tannins. I could drink this today. The fresh, floral finish features persistent strawberry and raspberry notes.
