The 2011 Cote Rotie, which also incorporates 10% Viognier, offers a classic, perfumed profile, with notions of rose petal, crushed rock, raspberry and spice. Medium-bodied, focused, pure and lively, drink it over the coming decade or more. This was a large lineup by producer Pierre Gaillard. Sweet, slightly smudgy nose. Salty but rather imprecise palate. And quite astringent on the finish. (JR)
90% Syrah, 10% Viognier. Mid ruby. A little indistinct on the nose. Quite ripe, almost soft. Not especially intense. Fast fade. (JR)
