The golden-yellow colored 1997 Rausch Auslese (Versteigerung) is intense yet pure and elegant on the palate that shows stimulating tropical fruit aromas of mangos, papayas and the whole Hawaiian fruit market. It has notes of lush peach juice combined with the stimulating slate character and fresh lemon juice. On the palate, this is a gorgeous, generous yet also elegant, refined and balanced, stimulatingly saline and crystalline Rausch Auslese that is irresistible and then unforgettable. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024.

This "little" Auslese was in fact marginally less ripe than the auction Spätlese. Pineapple, peach and mango play the leading roles in an ample mouthful of fruits that dies away with a pleasant lemony citricity and rather generous sweetness.
