Note di degustazione
95% Syrah, 5% Viognier. Mushroomy, earthy, but smoky and flinty too – with an excellent sweet coffee scent and still-firm tannins. The fruit is still present and ripe and balanced, but there is wonderful length and furry grip. (RH)

(the estate's cuvee classique, aging in barriques, 30% of which are new) Good ruby-red. Warm aromas of red berries and pepper, with a roasted aspect; could use a bit more verve. Sweet and supple in the mouth, with red fruit and gunflint flavors. Finishes with rather suave, ripe tannins and good length. Christine Vernay says she doesn't look for strong tannins in her red wines.

A legendary name, Domaine Georges Vernay crafts some of the finest whites in the world, having championed Condrieu when it was on the brink of extinction. The estate is best known for its single-site Coteau de Vernon Condrieu and is now in the hands of the third and fourth generation of the family.
