From stock which Dog Point held back at the winery to mature. Fermentation: 18 days. Aged 18 months in French barrels, 45% new. Bottled November 2012. RS 0.3 g/l, TA 5.4 g/l, pH 3.58, SO 2 total 80 mg/l, free 30 mg/l. First bottle was not in great shape (a bit tired) but the second bottle was lovely. Mature, bricky red. Still has masses of sweet red fruit and a good dose of mature undergrowth, touch of sweet leather. This is so much better than the other bottle. Velvet texture, smooth, deep, fresh, long. Ageing beautifully, without any of the premature sweet senescence of some mature NZ Pinots. (JH)

Magnum. 18 months in new and used French oak. TA 5.4 g/l, pH 3.58, RS 0.3 g/l. Pale-mid garnet. Rich, clove and cinnamon oak, and ripe, pure blackberry fruit. Lively acidity, with cherry and spice. Textured, with resolving tannins. Quite powerful but fine. (TJ)
Medium ruby in color, the 2010 Pinot Noir shows earthy, meaty and gamey notes with underlying dried mulberry and red plum preserves hints. Medium-bodied with plenty of fruit left in the mouth and framed by tannins that are just melding into a silken texture, it finishes long and earthy.
More complex nose than the Craggy Pinot made especially for the Wine Society. Polished and sophisticated. Pure pleasure. Not cheap though. (JR)
