Note di degustazione
The amber/gold-colored 2000 Tokay-Pinot Gris Clos Windsbuhl Vendanges Tardives has a spicy botrytis-scented nose. Medium-bodied and complex, its flavor profile displays mushroom, truffle, and smoke qualities. While this wine has 55 grams of residual sugar, the dusty characteristic common in highly botrytised wines makes it appear completely dry. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2030. Olivier Humbrecht describes 2000 as "a year of excellent ripeness where the key to success was sorting out the bad rot prior to harvesting." To accomplish this, Humbrecht sent out teams to go through every parcel, dropping whatever bunches had been infected with sour rot. Domaine Zind-Humbrecht's harvest lasted 6 weeks, with one-fourth being accomplished between September 19 and October 5th, and the remaining three-fourths picked by October 31st. Peach syrup, quince and minerals. Rather unctuous on entry, then solidly structured and fairly dry in the middle; today the powerful alcohol and rather strong acidity seem to be in opposition. A muscular style of VT; still, this appears to be better balanced than the dry wine from the same vines.
