Punteggio 92/100 · Josh Raynolds, Jul 2011

Inky purple. A powerful, slow-to-open bouquet displays blackberry and boysenberry preserves, candied violet, licorice and black pepper. Lush, creamy, palate-staining dark berry flavors pick up smoke and bitter chocolate qualities with air and show a seamless, velvety texture. This weighty, potent wine (16% alcohol!) finishes sweet, gently spicy and long. This won't convince many Old World die-hards but I find it pretty delicious.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2012-2022, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Dec 2010

Very deep garnet-purple, 2009 Reserve Shiraz gives baked blackberry and blueberry pie aromas with supporting notes of loam, dried leaves, mocha and allspice. The palate is very big, very full and concentrated at 16% declared alcohol with medium-high acid and firm grainy tannins. It offers very good persistence if a little hot in the finish. It should drink best from 2012 to 2022. -In short, due to weather conditions, the only premium red produced in 2008 was Noon Eclipse (no Reserve Shiraz or Cab produced),- reported Drew Noon. -The 2008 marks a change to the traditional blend of Grenache and Shiraz, to include a little Cabernet and Graciano fruit. We always intended for the Graciano fruit to be included in Noon Eclipse but only after 10 years in the ground do we feel the time is right to begin introducing it to the blend. In 2009 we had the reverse situation, where the old Grenache vines suffered stress and no 2009 Eclipse was produced.- Noon follows biodynamic principals on the winery estate, though does not seek certification. The single estate blocks for the Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon are grower owned in Langhorne Creek and are not currently farmed organically or biodynamically.
