Average age of the wines is 20 years. Was a Manzanilla for half its life. Bottled Sept 2012. Burnt gold colour. Lovely salty burnt caramel nose and fine nutty aroma. Vivacity and freshness with a strong burnt orange flavour even though it is so dry. Incredibly long. Rich in flavour even though it has a elegance and finesse. Utterly tasty and delicious. (JH)

Nutty, smoky, salty, tangy, alive, alert. Exemplary – simply delicious! (RH)
Hijos de Rainera Pérez Marín. Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Cask sample – due to be bottled in August 2012. Layered and rich start. Then bone dry. Salivating. Tense. (JR)
A Sanchez Ayala wine. Very pale amber. Indescribably complex yet subtly distinctive aromas: ever so slightly burnt caramel, dry nutty edge and a sort of leathery varnish that’s much nicer than it sounds. More concentrated still on the palate, savoury nutty caramel but very dry and still the briny green olive of its earlier appearance as Manzanilla. Remarkably fine and very long. The 20% alcohol is barely noticeable. (JH)
