Knockout nose offers everything from liqueur-like black raspberry and blueberry to dark chocolate, crushed-rock minerality and captivating violet and rose petal notes. A repeating element of saline minerality gives the middle palate lovely definition and verve, with the ripe fruit element coming across as quite youthful. Finishes with a firm spine of tooth-dusting tannins and terrific slowly mounting length. (ST)

Deep garnet colored with a lingering touch of purple, the 2007 J Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon has a beautifully expressive nose of warm cassis, blackberry compote and blueberry pie with touches of baking spices, vanilla pod, mocha, forest floor and black olives plus a waft of violets. Big, super rich and full-bodied, it delivers powerful, mouth-filling black fruit layers with a plush frame and invigorating freshness, finishing with incredible length and perfume.

(15.2% alcohol): Bright, full ruby. Crushed dark berries, violet and flinty, rocky minerality on the alluring, bright nose. Densely packed, pliant and sweet; displays wonderful retention of dark berry and licorice flavors without hardness. Terrific mineral support and lively acidity are still keeping this wine primary but it's already delicious. Finishes subtle and very long, with a strong fruity personality, a note of violet pastille and suave, firm tannins. This beauty should be long-lived; in fact, I'd still wait a few years for the tannins to resolve more.
