Punteggio 91-94/100 · Da bere 2015-2040, Robert Parker, Dec 2011

A single vineyard offering from the Cote Blonde, the superb 2009 Cote Rotie La Chatillonne is still resting in barrel and demi-muid. It possesses terrific caramelized red and black fruit notes intermixed with notions of lychee nuts, apricot jam, cassis, licorice and black cherries. This intense, full-bodied, elegant, seductive, rich 2009 still has some tannin to shed, so 4-5 years of cellaring is recommended. It should last for 25+ years thereafter. (Not yet released) Director Guy Sarton de Joncquey continues to upgrade virtually every wine being produced at Vidal Fleury. Working from a sparkling new facility, this property is moving toward earlier bottling to preserve the wines’ freshness and fruit, and quality is clearly on the upswing, as evidenced by issue #197’s report on their extensive negociant business in the southern Rhone. Importer: William Deutsch and Sons, White Plains, NY; tel. (914) 251-WINE
