Note di degustazione
60% Grenache (50 yrs), 40% Syrah (35 yrs). Not yet bottled . Very very ripe almost raisiny fruit notes on the nose but perfumed nevertheless. Then darker and more savoury leather aromas emerge. Firm, dry, dark and pretty powerful for the appellation. Bursting with flavour but has finely forceful structure to hold all that fruit in place. Finishes dry and long. (JH)

In the same class, but a different wine stylistically than the Cuvee Speciale, is the 2007 Cotes du Rhone Guy Louis. From numerous areas of the southern Rhone, it is a blend of equal parts Grenache (aged in tank) and Syrah (aged in new oak). Its deep ruby/purple hue is followed by aromas of camphor, blackberries, kirsch, spring flowers, roasted Provencal herbs, and a hint of beef blood. This sensational, deep, chewy, textured Cotes du Rhone should drink beautifully for a decade or more. Michel Tardieu, assisted by the brilliant oenologist, Philippe Cambie, has fashioned gorgeous low-end Cotes du Rhones that merit serious attention. Importer: Wilson-Daniels, St. Helena, CA; tel.
