Quinta da Gricha constitutes about 40% of the fruit. Also Quinta do Fojo and Quinta da Água Alta (which were in the blend up to and including 2011). Magnum. Glowing dark ruby. Sophisticated, complex nose. Luscious start and then some tannin on the end. Liquorice notes. A classic vintage. Some freshness. (JR)

Complex aromas of lead pencil shavings, blueberries, creme de cassis, and licorice emerge from this dense ruby/purple-colored 2000. Full body, sweet tannin (which provides definition), and outstanding concentration result in a seriously-endowed, finely-crafted vintage port with well-integrated tannin, acidity, and alcohol. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2025. Importer: Frederick Wildman & Sons, New York, NY; tel. (212) 355-0700
Very vibrant, almost rudely healthy purple. Still blackish. Big nose hinting at super-ripe fruit. Attention-grabbing and voluptuous though certainly not fine. Almost Baga-like notes (like the Smith Woodhouse 1977), the wine is so raw and tart, though the colour will go on and on. (JR)
This young Port shows intense aromas of black licorice and berries. It's full-bodied, with superfine tannins and a long, long finish. Seductive. Fantastic young Port from Churchill. Best ever. Best after 2012. 2,000 cases made. – James Suckling , Wine Spectator 2003
