Flint, smoke, and a developed, marmalade style to the fruit on the nose. Charming mineral character on the palate, with long-lived savoury finish, but definite oxidative character that is a mite too noticeable for my taste. (RH)

Very modest nose. Then some obvious oak influence on the palate – quite a dark horse this one which should be worth waiting for, although it lacks the great purity of some of his other bottlings – just a little coarser. Bigger and grainier. Still quite astringent. (JR)
