Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2025-2040, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2018

One of the highlights of the range this year, the 2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Porêts-Saint-Georges offers up a brooding bouquet of crushed currants, currant leaf, rich soil and grilled game bird. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and chewy with bright, crunchy fruit but a formidable chassis of fine-grained tannins which will demand a good decade in the cellar. For those with patience, this should be a fine proposition.

(15% vendange entier ; 50% new oak): Bright ruby-red. Black cherry, licorice and an oaky note on the somewhat compressed nose. Densely packed, spicy and seamless, with the enveloping texture, dark-fruit intensity and saline minerality to buffer its serious structure. The very long finish features repeating salty minerality, with the tannins coating the sides of the tongue. This very warm site is always the first to be harvested at Faiveley following their vineyards on the Côte de Beaune.

Domaine Faiveley is one of the dominant owners on NSG Les Porêts – a vineyard located just north of Les Cailles south of Nuits-Saint-George towards Premeaux. Faiveley acquired this vineyard already in 1832 as one of the first after the estate was established in 1825. The 2015 edition of the Les Porêts is a rich and fruity wine, it’s quite forward offering a nice selection of red and dark berries in the bouquet .. brought forward by a earthy note. On the palate rich, weighty and powerful for this level – offering abundant fruit – it’s generous, quite focused and detailed with a nice Burgundian feel. This is a NSG powerhouse … not a ballerina as such. Jun 2016, www.winehog.org
