1978 Bouchard Pere et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Greves Vignes de l Enfant Jesus

The 1978 Beaune Les Grèves Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus 1er Cru has not aged as well as other vintages I have encountered in the past, for example, a large-format '76. This has a tuile rim, missing a bit of colour for its age. Fully mature on the nose, this is very rustic and lacks the fruit one would expect for the vintage. Drying tannins feel quite hard, with an odd rusty nail note on the finish. I suspect there are better bottles out there. Tasted at the 1978 Bouilland horizontal.
