Lots of red and black currants, tobacco, iron, and cedar pencil notes emerge from the 2020 Château Rahoul, a medium to full-bodied, round, lush, beautifully balanced Graves. I suspect it will represent a great value, and it should evolve for a decade.
The 2020 Rahoul has a pleasant bouquet: blackberry and that tincture of black olive that I noticed in barrel. Quite loose-knit at the moment - it just needs tightening up. The palate is medium-bodied with the 9% Petit Verdot imparting attractive blue fruit notes. Fine structure here, a touch spicier than previous vintages, this Pessac looks to be ageing nicely.
The 2020 Rahoul is a gorgeous, extroverted Graves. A rush of dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol, licorice and dried herbs gives the 2020 tons of immediacy. Bright and punchy, with terrific depth and tons of complexity, Rahoul is a winner in 2020.
