2015 Chateau Siran Margaux

Tasted blind. Looks quite youthful. Lively fruit. Then quite a bit of savage tannin. Not ready yet! And I don’t think it will ever be gorgeous. (JR)

The 2015 Siran has a sensual bouquet with finely delineated black cherry, crushed violet and light cassis scents. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and decent depth. This is peppery and focused with admirable structure on the finish. It has good potential. Tasted blind at the 2015 Bordeaux Ten-Year-On tasting.

High Merlot than usual in this vintage, giving deliciously plump and silky raspbery and loganberry fruit, silky tannins with a shot of crushed mint leaf and spiced pepper to lift things up through the palate. A little short on the finish, this has an unfussy approachability and an emphasis on the floral side of Margaux. Hubert de Bouard consultant since 2014.
