The 2015 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru will be the last from Grivot as the vineyard was sold and from what I hear, the parcel will be tended by Christophe Roumier, a man who knows a thing or two about that grand cru. It has a rich and opulent bouquet with blueberry and blackberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, quite masculine in style with a slightly short and I have to say, rather anemic finish. To be honest, it does not deserve to be among Etienne Grivot's own superlative wines. Just one barrel produced.

No, despite appearances to the contrary, including this wine was not a mistake. Grivot explained that he made a small quantity from purchased fruit but that he chose not to continue with the contract so this is essentially a one-vintage wine. An elegant, pure and extremely pretty nose features a well-layered array of various red berries, earth and soft wood elements. While there is good verve to the middle weight flavors, they’re not nearly as concentrated as those of the Richebourg, all wrapped in a refined and classy finale. To be sure, this is really quite good but it’s simply not at the same level as other grands crus. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
