Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2021-2032, Neal Martin, Oct 2019

The 2016 Corton Le Clos du Roi Grand Cru has a sedate but well defined bouquet that is well defined, pretty red cherry and crushed strawberry scents, rose petals emerging with time in the glass. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins and fine acidity, good substance but yet it begins to run out of ideas in the second half, finishing in rather monotone fashion and lacking personality, even though it does improve and gain substance with aeration. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

Fleshy and ripe, but very limited in flavour complexity and the bitterness on the finish is unfortunate. (RH)
