Very dark crimson. Very winning, deep, multi-layered nose. Sweet start and lots tucked in there. Very refreshing but deep. Rich, appetising. Restrained but rewarding. Mid-weight. (JR)

An up and coming Medoc property run by the ambitious entrepreneur Bernard Magrez, La Tour Carnet has come on strong of late and is finally living up to its reputation. The dense purple-colored 2000 boasts a sweet nose of graphite intermixed with cassis, licorice, and toasty espresso notes. As the wine sat in the glass, floral notes also emerged. Heady, ripe, and medium to full-bodied, it is the finest La Tour Carnet produced in many decades. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2016.
Silky and pleasing, with berry, mineral and blackberry character. Medium body. Fine finish. Very elegant. Best after 2008. 15,580 cases made. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2003
