The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 2 comes from the G-III and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from clone 4. This is another near-perfect effort from winemaker Philippe Melka and the Fairchild team. Beautiful, sweet blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with floral notes, earthy soil undertones and forest floor notes are all present in this complex wine, which sports a full-bodied, mega-concentrated mouthfeel, but has no sense of heaviness or awkwardness. Drink it over the next 30+ years.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 2, from the Houyi (formerly Chang) vineyard on Pritchard Hill, is the most intense, full-throttle and opulent Cabernet in Larry Fairchild's range. Next to some of the other wines the Stones No. 2 is a bit bombastic in style, with plenty of the richness that is typical of Clone 4 Cabernet. Firm tannins and boisterous, jammy fruit are two of the signatures.
Fairchild's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones #2, from the Houyi Vineyard on Pritchard Hill, is fabulous. Intense, structured and explosive, the 2013 boasts fabulous richness and density. Smoke, mocha, mint, black cherries, and graphite add dimensions of complexity to an especially dark, brooding wine that is going to need time to fully come together. This is an impressive first effort.
