(60% vendange entier; this premier cru includes grapes from Clos Prieur, Petite Chapelle, Ergot, Corbeaux and Combottes): Good dark red. Musky aromas of plum, redcurrant, leather, mocha and earth. A step up in fruitiness and sweetness from the Ostrea but still with a slight edge of acidity showing. The most tannic of these wines to this point, but the tannins are dusty and fine. Serious and brisk.

Layers of blue/purplish fruit, spices, leather and licorice all blossom in a deep, beautifully resonant Gevrey loaded with class and personality. The typical Gevrey flavors are amped up by the sheer power and concentration of the year. What a gorgeous wine this is.
