Bright yellow. Crystallized lemon peel, crushed stone and a whiff of vanillin oak on the nose. Almost shockingly creamy-sweet, ripe and smooth but a bit subdued today, not yet showing the high notes of the Batard. An extremely deep but closed Chevalier-Montrachet whose harmonious acidity and salty, stony minerality should enable it to evolve gracefully over the next 15 years.

The nose is presently dominated by sulfur and reduction and is completely unreadable. By contrast there is very fine verve and freshness to the delineated and mineral-driven middle weight plus flavors that possess a textured mouth feel before culminating in a saline and moderately dry but not really austere finale. I like the balance and this should be lovely in time. Drink: 2020+

Very saline, discreet aromas of ripe apple and wet stone. Then surprisingly lush and pliant in the mouth, with lovely leavening saline minerality combining well with the wine's very ripe apple fruit. Finishes penetrating and long. A bit in the style of the Meursault Perrieres but I find this more expressive today.
