Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2022-2045, Neal Martin, Nov 2018

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet that displays a subtle marine, oyster shell tincture. It is more backward than Ghislaine-Barthod's own Fuées, but focused and clearly delineated. The palate is well-defined and grippy, displaying a fine bead of acidity and more tannic backbone than its peers. Perhaps there was a slightly longer extraction here, leading to a more muscular finish, yet the wine is still endowed with finesse and sophistication. You’re just going to have to wait longer for it. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Readers who are unable to get hold of Mugnier's stunning Musigny or Amoureuses should emphatically not disdain the utterly brilliant 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées. Tasted blind, the wine displays a deep bouquet of cherries, cassis, wild plums and dark chocolate, complemented by some sweet spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with excellent concentration and succulent acids, concluding with a sapid finish. Some fine but youthfully firm tannin on the finish argues for waiting at least five or six years before pulling corks, though this Fuées will need longer to reach its true apogee.

Bright, dark red. Very dark scents of boysenberry, black cherry, menthol and licorice. Juicy, spicy and fine-grained, conveying surprising inner-mouth energy to its very ripe black fruit, dark chocolate and licorice flavors. Very ripe, savory soil tones add another dimension. Not a particularly mineral style but shows lovely finesse of texture and finishes with a lively note of black cherry.
