Note di degustazione
The 2019 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru opens in the glass with aromas of raspberries, rose petals, exotic spices, incense and orange rind. Full-bodied, elegant and perfumed, it's the most seamless, refined rendition of Mazoyères that Dugat-Py has produced to date. Underpinned by supple, powdery tannins and lively acids, it concludes with a long, saline finish.

The 2019 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru, blended with 70% whole bunch and 50% new oak, was pretty reduced on the nose when I tasted it from barrel. So, bypassing the aromatics, the palate is medium-bodied with chunky, forthright tannins. This is much more masculine than the Charmes-Chambertin, touches of melted tar and tobacco appearing toward the finish, which feels a little conservative by comparison. Hopefully it will develop more charm by the time it is bottled.
On the Morey side – much pebblier than Charmes. Picked 9 September. Cask sample. A bit tighter, even slightly reduced, than the Charmes. And then so broad, smooth and, actually, charming on the palate. Savoury. Just what great red burgundy is about. (JR)
