Note di degustazione
(aging in 30% new oak, vs. 60% in 2011): Saturated bright red with ruby highlights. Vibrant aromas of black cherry, minerals, violet and spices. Rich and broad but with a light touch; in a spicy, very elegant style, with lovely inner-mouth perfume. Finishes with substantial tannins, noteworthy persistence and a distinct minty reserve.

Iron, smoke, blood and game are laced together in Mortet's 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin En Champs. The 2012 finishes with substantial power and tension, but stylistically it remains a bit rustic and rough around the edges, at least today. Regardless, there is plenty to look forward to.
There is a background trace of wood on the ultra-fresh and cool aromas of red currant, humus, earth and a hint of the sauvage. The beguilingly textured, concentrated and intense medium weight flavors possess an abundance of dry extract and plenty of minerality before culminating in a long if moderately austere finish. This delivers excellent quality for its level and is well worth considering. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2020+
