(10% vendange entier): Bright medium red. Fruitier on the nose but less complex than the Plantes, offering scents of cherry, raspberry and olive. Offers lovely sweetness and depth, as well as captivating inner-mouth perfume, but a bit less refined and smooth in the early going than the Plantes. Today this nicely balanced, energetic wine's tannins are a bit pronounced but the finish shows excellent juicy length. (Incidentally, Prune Amiot noted that this wine's tannins are often suaver than those of the Plantes but added that these wines change every day.

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes has a tightly wound, broody and introspective bouquet, more black fruit than red, the oak more prominent vis-à-vis other premier crus from the domaine. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin; edgier than the Les Fuées, and with a sense of energy towards the structured and slightly tarry finish. It feels a little curmudgeonly at the moment but will hopefully lighten up by the time it is bottled.

(from a 1.15 ha parcel). This too is very ripe though somehow manages to be quite a bit fresher with its fusion of cassis, plum liqueur, floral and sandalwood scents. I very much like the mouth feel of the sleek, rich and more energetic middle weight flavors that possess a lovely sense of balance and harmony. Note that despite the richness and seductive texture this is very definitely built-to-age and will require at least a few years first. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
