Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2020-2028, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2015

Musky aromas of redcurrant and maraschino cherry show a slightly candied quality. Juicy, dense and intense; tighter and more energetic than the 2012 Drouhin wines I tasted from the Côte de Beaune, nicely firmed by underlying stony minerality. Finishes spicy and persistent, with solid tannins avoiding dryness.

(from seven origins, according to Frederic Drouhin; vinified with 10% whole clusters; 20% new oak): Good bright, full red. Aromas of cherry, raspberry, rose petal and stone, along with some sweet oak. Silky and deep, offering saline minerality and dusty stone notes along with flowers and spices. The juicy, persistent finish delivers good grip and lift and lingering perfume.

Bright red cherries, rose petals and sweet spices flow across the palate in the 2012 Chambolle-Musigny. Bright, layered and succulent to the core, the 2012 is full of Chambolle raciness. Insistent veins of underlying salinity give the wine much of its energy and potential for the future. What a beautiful wine this is. Drouhin's Chambolle 1er Cru is a blend of fruit from six sites; Hautes Doits, Sentiers, Combottes, Groseilles, Borniques and Plantes.
