The 2023 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch has kaleidoscopic scents of quince and peach, lily and lilac, meringue and roasted almonds. The full-bodied palate is highly concentrated, pairing ripe stone fruit with shimmery saline character. It’s balanced by racy acidity and has a very long, energetic finish. It should be long lived in the cellar.

Th 2023 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch opens to savory beeswax and honeycomb, preserved green apple, white peach, and tarragon. The palate is pretty and well-defined, with clarity, focus, and a silky, clean texture, followed by a long-lasting finish with great mouthwatering freshness. A personal favorite in the range, drink it over the next 10-12 years. Drink 2025-2037. Located in the Russian River Valley, Kistler is led today by winemaker Jason Kesner, who continues the long tradition of working from a singular clone of Chardonnay with Burgundian lineage that Steve Kistler, now of Occidental Wines, began in the 1980s. The wines for this report were tasted at the winery this spring.
