The 2015 Climens offers dried honey, baked bread, saffron and Mirabelle plum on the nose that is well defined, if not endowed with the vigor of its peers. The palate is well balanced with admirable purity. Harmonious with a touch of crème brûlée and saffron toward the finish, this is a fine Sauternes, although I have encountered superior bottles in the past. This is exceptional, precise, carved, fleshy chamomile, white tea, cumin, pineapple, pink grapefruit, fabulous, lime zest and white flower blossom. Expansive and slate textured. 130g/l residual sugar. A touch of VA, but that is typical in sweet wines in these hot vintages.
The 2015 Climens contains 132g/L residual sugar. Cropped at 21.2hL/ha, it is wonderful and expressive with wild honey, praline, almond and saffron aromas. The palate is very well balanced with fine definition, perhaps a little more depth and concentration than the 2016. Beautifully defined and mineral-driven on the finish. Effortless. Outstanding. Tasted at the Climens vertical at the château in April 2022.
