2005 Hewitt - Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

(15.3% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. Blackberry and cocoa powder on the nose, complicated by nuances of graphite, lees and sweet oak. A big, chewy, slightly chunky wine with a medicinal cast to its sweet dark berry and graphite flavors. A bit simple and lacking in definition but still full of life. Finishes slightly herbal, with serious, reasonably sweet tannins. Good material here but a bit unrefined.
