2020 was a very similar vintage to 2019—it was a very challenging year, but they learned from their mistakes in 2019. For the 2020 Táganan Parcela Margalagua, they harvested a little earlier, kept more leaves to give shadow to the grapes and did a shorter and lighter maceration at high temperature. All of that paid off. Despite the challenging year, they worked a lot, and the result is superb. 1,500 bottles were filled in December 2021.

Listán Negro, Baboso Negro, Negramoll, Vijariego, and 10% of white varieties such as Malvasía. A flagship of the old ‘vidueño’ single vineyard in co-plantation. Red basalt soils of volcanic origin. Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with ambient yeasts in open vats using 100% of the stems. Daily punching down, and malolactic conversion in a neutral French oak barrels of 500 litres. Aged in the same barrels for 11 months on its lees, without any racking. Tasted blind. Red fruit that has achieved a combination of freshness and ripeness that makes it really delicious. Accompanied by a touch of smoke. Very fresh on the palate, again. Refreshing Atlantic acidity with very smooth tannins. Pure and mineral. (FC)
