The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Peterson Family Vineyard is packed with inky blue/purplish fruit, spice, lavender, coffee and mint. This exuberant, racy Calistoga Cabernet offers tons of Mike Smith's style. Give it a few years to soften.
I also loved the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Peterson Family Vineyard, a more lifted, perfumed, red and blue-fruited wine. As with most of Smith's 2019s, it’s ripe, full-bodied, and has a round, sexy mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and one heck of a great finish. Drink it over the coming 10-15 years.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Peterson Family Vineyard (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) delivers notions of stewed plums, boysenberries and crème de cassis with an undercurrent of sautéed herbs, tilled soil and tobacco leaf. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is plump and juicy with ripe black fruits, framed by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and fruity.
