Translucent ruby colour, with an ethereal, floral and complex nose. Great intensity without weight. Wild strawberries, cherry blossom and green peppercorns. The palate is sappy and vibrant. Waves of acidity and fine tannins add real crunch, but this is balanced by juicy strawberries and red cherries. The herbal tone of whole-bunch fermentation is evident throughout but in harmony with the fruit rather than dominating it. Real drive on the finish. (TP)

I loved the 2017 Pinot Noir McDougall Ranch, which comes from a warmer, south-facing site consisting of rocky soils in the Sonoma Coast AVA. One of the deeper colored wines, it has a rocking bouquet of black raspberries and passion fruits intermixed with notes of rose petals, spice, and earth. Seamless, medium-bodied, with beautifully polished tannins, this complete, elegant, flawlessly balanced Pinot Noir will benefit from 1-2 years of bottle age and cruise for a decade.
The 2017 Pinot Noir McDougall Ranch is flat-out gorgeous. In the glass, the McDougall is deep, layered and exquisitely beautiful, from the very first taste. The wine's sheer density practically covers the whole cluster influence. Bold, dramatic and sweeping in feel, the McDougall is a total stunner. I loved it.
Mid blueish crimson. Light and racy. Very transparent with no shortage of acidity and some greenness suggests whole bunch. Needs a little time. (JR)
