(no new oak): Very subtle aromas of white peach, crushed stone and flowers, with a complicating buttery nuance. Juicy, sappy and tight, but conveying lovely sweetness to its stone fruit and soft citrus flavors. Boasts strong acidity and extract but this highly concentrated wine is more strict today than the Combettes, without that wine's generosity of texture--and even a bit spiky in the early going. (Incidentally, owner Gerard Boudot sells these two wines at the same price.)

The 2014 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru was somewhat reticent on the nose, less flattering than its counterpart that I tasted chez Domaine Leflaive earlier that same day. The palate is taut and crisp, tightly coiled, quite spicy like the Combettes with a dash of white pepper towards the long finish. It is a reserved Bienvenue but it will repay cellaring. Just two barrels produced.

(from the oldest vines of the domaine but, says Boudot, "this wine can be a little thin after the Combettes"): Bright pale yellow. Aromas of musky white peach and white plum, honey, flowers and menthol. Juicy and smaller-scaled, offering complex flavors of white stone fruits, white flowers and crushed stone. Not a powerhouse but intensely flavored and perfumed. More floral than fruity today and and very young; this needs more élevage .
